After children are placed in their forever families, many new parents are asking "what's next?"
The adoption journey is a wonderful, life changing experience that affects everyone in the home. Often times, parents are faced with the task of dealing with many typical problems that arise while taking care of children who were raised in an orphanage for a certain period of their lives.
Since adoption first timers encounter general and specific questions about parenting, our Adoption Ark staff in IL, would love to help answer them! Among the issues to be discussed will include :
- Struggles raising older children
- Social and Emotional development problems
- How to build bonding experiences and deal with attachment issues
- And many more!!!
If you have specific questions and would like them to be discussed at the conference, please contact our Home Study Social Worker, Ellen Taylor at et.journeys@onebox.com with your questions.
Remember, the entire family is welcome!! While parents will be busy educating themselves, Adoption Ark will provide a lunch for all the families attending. Your children will also have a great time playing in our play room with our wonderful volunteers!
