Our adoption from Bulgaria

Our story begins in the fall of 2007. We had a one boy at home and decided that adopting a boy would work well for us. We researched countries and decided on Bulgaria, knowing that by most standards Bulgarian adoptions took longer than most.
We began our paperwork and contacted Adoption Ark Inc. By the next summer we had a case number in Bulgaria and thought it would not be long! Then a two years went by. We renewed our home study, repeated our biometrics and waited.
Out of the blue we received our magic phone call from Alla. It was hard to believe. A boy was a match to us. We quickly rearranged our schedules and flew to Bulgaria. We met with the incredible Violeta. She had everything arranged for us, a driver, hotel, and interpreter. We spent a week with him and knew he was a great fit for us. We left Bulgaria hoping to return soon. A little over 4 months later we returned to Bulgaria again. Violeta had it all under control. We drove back to Stara Zagora and then back to Sofia. We then worked on getting his passport and VISA. We had all the paperwork completed in one week and we were on our way home.
Kolyo spent the entire trip awake, all 15 hours of travel. He was awake for over 24 hours total and still in a good mood.
We have now been home for a little over two weeks. He has a great temperament and laughs a lot. We are truly blessed!
