It’s hard to believe that a short three weeks ago we were heading back home after spending almost six weeks in Kazakhstan. Those six weeks were the most exhilarating, fulfilling and humbling of our lives. We want to thank you for your guidance and care during our adoption journey. With so many agencies to choose from and with so many unknowns, we feel that we are truly blessed to have found our child through Adoption Ark.
The moral and ethical integrity of the Adoption Ark staff is absolute. The pledge to do everything in your power to unite us with a daughter was sincere -- you did not make promises you could not keep. You helped us to understand the intricacies of international adoption and you supported us through the month’s long process with professionalism and kindness. You respected our need to be informed every step of the way and we never once felt forgotten or abandoned.
We are convinced that our constant flow of emails asking question upon question must have driven you crazy at times. Yet, you always answered our queries to the best of your ability and by no means made us feel that our concerns were foolish or unimportant. The line of communication between your California office and our Illinois home was not the least bit compromised because of distance -- you were always just an email or phone call away.
We must also mention the awesome staff in Kazakhstan who made our stay there so enjoyable. Many thanks to our drivers, to our terrific translator, and to the always amusing coordinator (who was top-notch.) We miss and think of them often.
Now that we have had some time to settle back into our normal routines, we find ourselves missing Kazakhstan. We miss the little room at the Hotel that we called home while there. And, we miss the simple life we led during our stay. We came to love the country of our child’s birth and we certainly loved visiting the orphanage every day. We wish we could have left with a dozen children in tow. But, who knows? Perhaps another trip is in the future for us!
