Our desire to adopt began years ago. However, due to our limited resources on adoption and our financial situation we put our dream on hold. Fast forward 15-20 years and our kids are now grown….ages 27, 26,and 24 and we visit an orphanage in SE Asia with our church. This trip inspired us to pick up our dream to adopt. Through a friend at church, Adoption Ark was recommended. She and her husband had adopted recently with the assistance of Adoption Ark. We immediately checked out AA’s website, called and spoke with Kim Fury and signed our papers in May 2005. We were blessed to have Alla has our coordinator for our Kazakhstan adoption. Our desire was to adopt an older sibling group even though everyone thought we were crazy. Maybe so…but we felt it was right for us. Alla got us through the paperwork, and kept us encouraged and informed through out the process.
Our trip to Kazakhstan couldn’t have been coordinated any better. Our stay in Kazakhstan was wonderful. We met such wonderful people and Igor, our translator, went over & beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Igor, our attorney, was full of wisdom and has such a big heart for the children in the boarding schools and he truly cares for each one of them.
It is now September 2006 and Alex, age 13 and Oksana, age 11 are doing great. They have learned so much in such a little bit of time. They are now in school and love it. They seem to be adjusting very well. They love to swim, ride their bikes, and the love the music at church.
We sincerely thank Adoption Ark for their professionalism, their knowledge about the countries and their legal system and for caring for all the children and doing their best to find homes for all the needy children. Most of all thanks for our two beautiful children, Alex & Oksana!
